Tasman Bridge is one of Hobart's most impressive landmarks and was built in the 1960s, to cross the vast Derwent River. Consisting of four lanes, Hobart's Tasman Bridge is a vital part of city life, connecting central Hobart with its surrounding suburbs and nearby Hobart Airport, replacing the old floating bridge which was constructed in the late 1930s. Shortly after it opened, a large ferry collided with part of the Tasman Bridge, causing a section of the bridge to collapse, which took several months to be repaired.

Government House, in the heart of central Hobart, is one of the city's main landmarks and dates back to the mid-19th century. Featuring classical Victorian architecture and many original features, Hobart's Government House is close to the Derwent River and will always be one of the most impressive buildings in the Hobart and Tasmania area.

Situated in the Salamanca area of Hobart, Parliament House is a striking landmark building with many impressive features. Dating back to the 1830s, Hobart's Parliament House was built by early convicts in sandstone and is home to a small museum area, an elaborate interior, a pleasant strolling garden and regular guided tours. Other attractions at Hobart's Parliament House include the Parliamentary Library, which was founded in 1852, public debates and many Parliamentary Committees.

The Port Arthur Historic Site, on the outskirts of Hobart, is home to a number of historic landmarks, many of which and important reminders of the convict past and early settlers in this area 200 years ago. With more than 30 restored buildings and ruins, harbour cruises and a large visitors' centre, Port Arthur is one of Australia's most historic districts. Highlights at Port Arthur include the Penitentiary - once a thriving granary and flour mill, the separate prison, the Commandant's House, the ruined church and the natural stone Tasman arch, which is an immense cave structure on the coast.

Richmond Bridge, on the northern outskirts of Hobart, is one of the oldest bridges in the whole of Australia and is still in daily use. Built between 1823 to 1825 by local convicts, this extremely important, historic and beautiful stone bridge crosses the Coal River and features six large arches.

Situated in the New Town area of Hobart, Runnymede House dates back to the 1830s. This grand stately home is now owned and managed by the Australian National Trust. Attractions at Hobart's Runnymede House include an elaborately decorated interior with antique furniture, historic paintings and portraits, a large landscaped garden and scenic views of the surrounding countryside.

Shot Tower is one of Hobart's most instantly recognisable landmarks, towering around 50 metres / 164 feet over Derwent River. Dating back almost 200 years, Hobart's Anglesea Barracks are one of the oldest military buildings in the whole of Australia and are still in daily use. Regular guided tours of the Anglesea Barracks are available each Tuesday.
